Why Hawaii?

We chose the beautiful island of Maui for our wedding ceremony for a number of reasons. We have always wanted to visit Hawaii, so getting married there seemed like a great excuse to go!

There are many Hawaiian islands, and we had heard and read that Maui was the most beautiful, and so seemed like a natural choice for our ceremony. The beaches are among the best in world, as is the hospitality provided by the locals on the island. The common language was also a factor...and the fact that Sean will be able to get a decent meal (fussy boy!)

Maui also provides a great stop-off on the way to our dream honeymoon destination of the French Polynesia.

We knew that in choosing to get married abroad, we would be having a fairly intimate ceremony, and after deciding that an actual beach wedding might be a bit messy, we felt that a lawn just behind the beach would be the best option. The location of The Royal Lahaina is also very convenient with many accommodation choices and restaurants close by.

In the lead up to the wedding, and afterwards for our guests there were many activities that kept everyone entertained for days, it provided the perfect location to just kick back and relax by the sea or pool.
