Having got through customs at the airport on our way to
Cancun, Mexico I was relieved Linsey was not looking when
Security decided to search through my hand luggage.
Linsey had no idea that I hid the Engagement Ring I
bought her on a previous holiday in New York. Believe me,
It was a challenge to hide the ring in our hotel safe without
Linsey even suspecting.
We booked our excursions from Cancun for our two week
stay and I decided that Chichen Itza would be a great place
to pop the question. This tour was in our second week of
the holiday so I was finding the build up nerve racking.
When we arrived at the Mayan ruins, we spent a couple of
hours looking around and I was constantly thinking how
and where. Eventually at the foot of the Kukulkan Pyramid I
got down on one knee (ok it may have been two) and asked
Linsey to marry me.
Heart beating a million times a second (seemed like a
lifetime waiting for the answer) Linsey gave a big smile
and said YES!
Sean
The trip to Chichen Itza was the thing I was looking forward to the most during our holiday to Mexico.
The day started with a 3 hour drive to the Mayan ruins,
but it was worth the wait. Its a truly beautiful site, everyone should visit it at least once! We were given a guided tour, learned the history and then were given
time to explore ourselves and take pictures.
We got back to the front of the largest pyramid and I noticed that Sean was on the ground rumaging in his bag,
I asked what he was doing, then I saw the red box which I hadn't seen since we were in the diamond district in NYC! So, he was on two knees, and blurted
out Linsey Harlick "will you marry me?" I said yes immediately! I was extremely happy and couldn't wait to take a self-portrait picture to remember the moment by.
I spent the rest of our holiday staring at my ring finger and the beautiful ring, and planning the wedding in my head!
Sean was a bit naughty though, he didn't get my dad's permission!
